What is the Copa Cup?
The Copa América is governed by the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL) and began in 1916 in honor of Argentina’s 100-year independence anniversary. It is the oldest international football tournament, and Uruguay won it all in the first tournament. It should be of no surprise to learn, then, that Argentina and Uruguay are tied for the most Copa-wins, each sitting at a modest 15 wins. Since 2007, it has typically occurred once every 4 years, however, when it first began it was played between every one to four years.

The 2024 Copa final will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida on July 14th through a strategic partnership between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF (The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football). This is the second time the United States will be the host; the first time was in 2016. Ecuador was originally being considered to host, however, due to security concerns and a lack of viable stadiums, they pulled out. Peru was considered as well, but ultimately the US won the bid. 10 teams from CONMEBOL (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela) will look to win it all, and 6 teams from CONCACAF (USA, Mexico, Jamaica, Panama, Canada, Costa Rica) will do the same. 16 teams will battle-it-out for one trophy. Who will emerge victorious?
